Brick limewash · The Pocono Mountains

Mineral character with natural movement.

We apply limewash and related mineral finishes to suitable brick and masonry throughout the Poconos, creating a softer architectural appearance that responds to the texture and variation already present in the surface.

A complete service

Limewash is not ordinary paint.

Traditional limewash interacts visually with masonry rather than creating the uniformly opaque film associated with conventional paint. Its movement, tonal variation, and relationship to the brick texture are part of the finish. Mineral paints and other masonry systems can provide different levels of uniformity when a classic limewash appearance is not the right goal.

The existing surface must be evaluated before a product is selected. Bare absorbent masonry, previously painted brick, sealed surfaces, repairs, efflorescence, and moisture conditions do not all accept the same system. We sample whenever practical so color, opacity, and variation can be judged on the actual property.

What is included

Preparation that supports the finish.

01

Surface evaluation

We identify whether the brick or masonry is bare, painted, sealed, repaired, stained, or affected by conditions that could influence absorption and adhesion.

02

Cleaning and protection

Loose contaminants are addressed and adjacent roofing, windows, trim, landscaping, floors, fixtures, and finished surfaces are protected.

03

Samples and direction

The desired opacity, movement, color, and degree of distressing are discussed. A sample area helps establish expectations when conditions allow.

04

Mineral application

The selected limewash, mineral paint, or compatible masonry system is applied using methods appropriate to the surface and intended character.

Our approach

The surface leads the specification.

01

Identify the masonry

We inspect the material, previous coatings, repairs, moisture signs, access, surrounding finishes, and the architectural effect you want.

02

Choose the finish

Limewash, mineral paint, or another masonry coating is selected based on compatibility and the desired balance of opacity and variation.

03

Prepare and sample

The surface and adjacent areas are prepared, and a representative sample is reviewed when feasible before broader application.

04

Build the appearance

Application is adjusted to the agreed finish direction, with the understanding that natural masonry variation remains part of the result.

Common questions

Before we begin.

Can limewash be applied over painted brick?

Traditional limewash generally depends on a compatible absorbent mineral surface. Previously painted or sealed brick may require a different preparation or mineral coating system. We inspect the existing surface before recommending a finish.

Will limewash look perfectly uniform?

Not usually. Natural variation and movement are central to the traditional limewash appearance. If you want a more opaque or consistent result, a compatible mineral paint or masonry coating may be a better specification.

Do you limewash interior fireplaces?

Yes, suitable interior brick fireplaces and masonry features can be evaluated. The firebox and high-heat surfaces require separate consideration and are not treated like ordinary surrounding brick.

Can you show me the color before completing the whole project?

A sample area is recommended when practical because masonry texture, absorption, existing color, lighting, and application technique all influence the final appearance.
